Grading Policy for 7th Grade
In order to maintain academic excellence, it is important for your child to be here. In case of illness , please call 538-7670 before the start of the school day.
We ask that you check your child's grades regularly using Parent Portal.
This year progress reports and report cards will contain two separate categories for each course
- Academic Grade
- Citizenship, Conduct and Work Habits
Academic Grading:
Summative Assessments (85% of grades will be determined by summative assessments)
A variety of items are considered Summative Assessments. Assessments can include, tests, projects, papers, and presentations. These assessments show an understanding of a topic. Generally, these items are given at the end of a unit.
Formative Assessments (15% of grades will be determined by formative assessments)
Again, a variety of items are considered Formative Assessments. These items include, homework, classwork, quizzes, and reflections. These items show how well the student is doing so far and what they need before the end of the unit. These items are generally given throughout the unit.

Trimester Schedule
Students will be graded on a trimester schedule. This means that they will receive report cards 3 times a year instead of 4. They will also switch their electives at each trimester.
Citizenship, Conduct and Work Habits:
Academics is our number one priority for all of our students. If your child is disrupting the academic process, the following process is put in place:
1. Warning
2. 4 Questions
3. Written Referral/Parent Contact
4. Office Referral

Late Work Policy:
- Assignments accepted one week after a summative assessment or as arranged by teacher.
Test Retake Policy:
- Required for scores below 70%, optional for all others.
- Student fills out retake form and returns with parent/guardian signature.
- Student-teacher meeting to:
- determine readiness
- set retake test date (after school Tuesdays and Thursdays)
- Students allowed ONE attempt to retake each test. The higher score will be recorded.
